Our mission is to provide services and programs that assist PC athletes with their athletic pursuits, create communities of support and reduce perceived barriers between people. Formed in 2006 and headquartered in Atlanta, Ga., the Getting2Tri Foundation (G2T) is a 501(c)(3) non profit organization that provides coaching, training and mentoring to physically-challenged (PC) athletes in the sports of swimming, running, cycling and triathlon. Specifically, we address the needs of individuals with limb loss, paralysis, muscular or neurological disorders and create a unique community of support. The foundation uses sports as the vehicle for goal accomplishment and creates confidence in many other facets of one's life. At our core, we believe that individuals with disabilities deserve the inspiration, support, and opportunity to participate in athletic endeavors that promote healthier, active lifestyles. G2T has three primary pillars: First, "TRAINING" represents our focus on the training of athletes with disabilities, primarily through our national paratriathlon training camp held annually in Atlanta as well as planned mobile camps throughout the year in selected communities. Next, "EDUCATING" represents the growing repository of information available on the website's Online Resource Center where we not only connect individuals but also provide pertinent content to assist with many issues relating to the training of athletes with disabilities. Lastly, "EMPOWERING" highlights the foundation's long term goal to create a Sports Institute that will help battle diseases such as diabetes, depression and obesity. Our vision is to have a brick and mortal facility that will educate and empower individuals to make smart, informed decisions on their own health and wellness. http://www.getting2tri.org
