Causes: Philanthropy, Public Foundations
Mission: Gateway second chance seeks to secure a safe, stable, community-based environment for at-risk youth needing a second chance to become contributing members of society by securing their future through education and life skills training.
Programs: The foundation identified, leased, furnished, and opened a 2500 sq. Ft. Instructional facility in prince georges county and began searching for a residential facility for program participants. In addition, with full board participation, the foundation expanded its sustaining parent program to provide a source of on-going financial program support. The foundation also introduced a foundation support organization called, friends of gateway to identify and gain pro bono skill specific expertise for foundation sponsored activities. Lastly, and perhaps most importantly, while maintaining minimal administrative overhead, the foundation funded four innovative educational and life skills youth programs including the identification, vetting and training of staff and volunteers to operate same, which served a combined total of 27 youth.
