As an elementary educator, that also teaches gardening at the local college, I have been able to benefit from Gardens for Humanity's programs first hand. As a community school garden volunteer, we have used the their seed library for over a decade and it keeps getting better! Currently, I run a free after school program for working families. The kids are always enthusiastic when GFH comes . . . will it be the mural or art projects with Joan or gardening and art with Sarah? I truly feel we are giving these kids the tools they need to cope and thrive in the future, from growing nutritious food to feed their bodies, knowledge to feed their minds, fun and art to feed their souls.

Causes: Arts & Culture, Environment, Environmental Education, Garden Clubs, Natural Resources Conservation & Protection
Mission: Gardens for Humanity’s mission is to develop and share our relationships with Humanity and Nature through gardening, art, and education.
Target demographics: We develop and assist home, school, and community gardens and organize events that promote gardening, ecological education, food security, and artistic expression.
Direct beneficiaries per year: 500 children and young adults in schools, 100 home and community gardens, regional partnerships with environmental organizations.
Geographic areas served: The Verde Valley of central Arizona, and are a resource for art, garden, and environmental education nation-wide.
Programs: Garden, art, and environmental education in schools, libraries, and youth centers, provide regional Seed Libraries, sponsor the Verde Thumbs garden club, provide community education, founding member of the Sustainability Alliance, work with the Verde Valley Food Council on local food security that is nutritious and available to all. We designed and share accessible garden planters for the disabled.
