Mission: The mission of the friends of the florissant symphony orchestra is to provide a proformance opportunity for adult community and college musicians, as well as presenting public concerts for the north st louis county area who would otherwise not be able to hear classical music, admission free and for college credits.
Programs: The friends of the florissant symphony orchestra is a partial support organization of the st louis community college at florissant valley symphony orchestra. The college pays the salary of the adjunct instructors provides the large music instuments, the hiring of some professional musicians, the purchase of some music scores and the venue of concert performances. The orchestra provides a music performance credit to enrolled college students. Majority of the orchestra musicians are volunteer community adults. Because of the lack of space on the college campus, weekly rehearsals are held in the north hills united methodist church in the church basement at 10771 trask, st. Louis mo 63136, one mile from the the campus. Funds raised by the friends. Fund from the friends pays the rent of the rehearsal facility ($1500. 00) annually. The hiring of some professional musicians to augment the orchestra, purchase music scores and repair instruments.
