I moved to Redlands 3 years ago and since then I have visited the Smiley Public Library for several occasions. Smiley Library is the only historical library around the area and for that matter it should have better service and enough materials, but unfortunately it has only a few computers and they are very old. Most of the devices does not work and they are never fixed. It does not have programs or a classes for the community. Usually, the employes open late and they close 30 minutes earlier than they suppose to do it. They have bad attitude force people to leave 30 minutes earlier by turning off the lights, turning off the internet, and telling people to leave. It is sad because i have donated many books but i think it should have more founds to improve the service.

Mission: To provide financial support to the a. K. Smiley public library by encouraging and receiving gifts, endowments and bequests to the library. To assist the library trustees and staff in outreach programs to the public and expand special collections available to the public.
Programs: Support a. K. Smiley library in acquiring unique materials for the heritage collection and the lincoln shrine. Assist in the acquisition of material for the librarys childrens section. Assist in adding physical reading materials and digital media for the general collection available to the general public.
undertake a program for improving literacy in the adult community. Acquire appropriate learning materials, provide volunteer tutors for one on one private sessions for adult learners, arrange for special programs for the learners and the volunteer tutors. Established a program for basic computer skills for these adult learners.
assist the library in mailings to the general public, recognition of the volunteers for the various programs and supplies for the endeavors.
