Mission: Fmcs is devoted to the advocacy for, public education about, and conservation science of freshwater mollusks, north america's most imperiled animals.
Programs: Fmcs is devoted to the advocacy for, public education about, and conservation science of freshwater mollusks. In 2017 we held a symposium at the marriott key center in cleveland, oh. The symposium theme was "the roles of freshwater mollusks in a changing environment: ecosystems, engineering, valuation, and practice. " approximately 300 fmcs members attended. Travel awards were provided to 9 students attending the symposium. We published 2 issues of our scientific journal freshwater mollusk biology and conservation, and provided public and member outreach through our webpage. We also provided monetary support to 4 regional mollusk meetings.
