I am a huge fan of what FRESHFARM does with their incentives programs. Fresh Match provides SNAP shoppers with extra money to spend at the farmers markets, and I've recently learned about their work with Produce Plus.

Most who know FRESHFARM will only think about their farmer's markets. They are so much more than that! They offer incredible food access and food education programs. They are operating in all areas of our food system.

Looking for a reason to support Freshfarm? Look no further than the FoodPrints program. FoodPrints is teaching elementary-aged students to grow, prepare, and enjoy local food. Students and parents love the program.

I try to go to the market once a week - it's one of the best parts of my routine. So glad FRESHFARM opened a Union Market location near me!

FreshFarm is one of my favorite DC-area non-profit organizations. Primarily, it is because it serves so many populations and is focused on quality, accessibility, and equity. On any given market day in my neighborhood, you find long lines of people ready to pay fair prices to hardworking farmers bringing high quality, healthy food directly to customers. The platform FreshFarm provides serves these farmers and the people buying the products. FreshFarm also makes Produce Plus easy for people in need and enables all people to access this wonderful, healthy food, equitably and with dignity.

Our nonprofit really enjoyed collaborating with FRESHFARM this summer on a program series that brought arts (storytelling) and entertainment (scavenger hunt) to the Silver Spring market. Their openness to explore and try a new idea was refreshing, and we look forward to partnering with them again in the future!

The food education curriculum created and shared by Foodprints, one of the programs run by FreshFarm, is best in class. The leaders and teachers in that program have been open and generous with this resource, and I plan to use it throughout my future career.

FRESHFARM has been such an integral part of my life in Washington, DC – local economy had long served as as a focus for my career, but it wasn't until FRESHFARM that I truly started exploring our local food system. After nearly a decade of getting to know the people, farms, and goods behind each FRESHFARM Market (and behind the organization at large), I can truly say that FRESHFARM provides absolutely vital services to each of their market's communities, and to the Mid-Atlantic region at large.

The amount of consideration that goes into bringing each market and program to life in a sustainable and hospitable way is incredible to observe.

I'm a monthly donor and frequent their farmers markets across the region. I also worked with them in a partnership capacity where they were the nonprofit benefactor of a yearly food and drink event in the DC area. They were professional and creative in their activation which became loved by guests over the years. They helped amplify communications via their channels and their staff were friendly and organized on site from set up to break down. I also serve on their Community Engagement Council for over four years. We serve as a sounding board for their ideas and initiatives as well as a reach back to key partners to enable success. FRESHFARM is an wonderful organization to support, shop at, volunteer with, and partner.

I picked up my CSA from fresh farm in the CoHi location every week and loved it! My CSA contents included all the classics and some more rare produce which allowed me to get creative. The folks who gave me my CSA were so kind and helpful. Thanks fresh farm!

FRESHFARM continues to be a valued community partner in the work to increase healthy food access for all. As very active members of the Fairfax Food Council, we are grateful for the education they provide and their willingness to share their access to fresh produce - in so many innovative ways - to so many in our community.

I have worked with FreshFarm for decades and watched them transform the city into a caring, healthier community while preserving farm land in our surrounding area. Restaurants in our nation’s capital are now world class in large part because of the quail it’s of local product FreshFarm has brought to the city. I have admired FreshFarm for their commitment to access for ALL. They have gone into food deserts and introduced produce. Further they have created successful programming to increase real food consumption to our high need neighbors. Kudos to FreshFarm!

Freshfarm still has a long way to go in recognizing it's seemingly inherent racial biases.
Brown farmers are not given the same access to their most profitable markets, and black vendors are still practically non-existent in their markets.

FRESHFARM has been amazing leader and provider in our community for over 20 years. I am a former board member who became involved with FRESHFARM about 18 years ago upon meeting Ann Yonkers, one of the co-founders at the Dupont Circle Market. Since then, I have hardly missed a Sunday market at Dupont Circle and occasionally go to the markets at Silver Spring, H Street, Foggy Bottom the White House Market and Penn Quarter. I even have crossed the river to the market at Crystal City. I love them all!
I love knowing our farmers, knowing that the food we buy is local and fresh. During the Covid period I have been so proud of how FF has run their markets, with social distancing, lots of help from volunteers, the ability to reserve entrance times and an incredible consistency of good service. I am also proud of how much FF does for our DC/VA/MD communities and schools. Washington DC wouldn’t be the same without FRESHFARM.

Freshfarm has been a leader in providing healthy fresh food to our community, especially important during this complicated time of quarantine. They effectively and thoughtfully worked with city officials to comply with every safety measure required of them to keep our farmers market open, accessible and safe. It was a lifeline to many and benefited both customers and farmers. The FoodPrints program is an innovative model which will make a real difference in the way we eat. Engaging children in the farm-to-table concept early on will have a ripple effect on health and wellness for future generations. They are a dedicated, hardworking and inspiring group of people who continue to evolve and grow to meet changing needs to make a real difference. The Freshfarm Sunday market is one of the most special things about our neighborhood. It encourages our elderly neighbors to get out, walk, and to eat healthy. It draws millennials and young families with children and couples to all come together to support our local farmers and to make healthy food choices.

Freshfarm is a vital member of our community. Protecting our local food supply has never been more important and ensuring the health of our community and their economic well being is served in an exemplary ways by the work of Freshfarm. New businesses have been incubated at many of these markets. A job that could not be replicated anywhere else. The Food prints program is a national leader and has a curriculum that should be followed in other communities as we raise the future eaters of America and ensure that today's children eat wholesome and healthy food. And know where their food comes from.
I am especially proud of the work that Freshfarm did in pivoting during the pandemic to make their markets safe and user friendly with entry times available on Open Table. It is a win for the shopper and a win for the farmers in keeping everyone safe and eating well.

FRESHFARM is an essential organization in the Mid-Atlantic region, connecting community members to local farmers, promoting sustainable agriculture, providing gardening, cooking, and nutrition education for local students, and increasing food access and equity. Not only is the organization doing great things, but the farmers and producers they bring to the markets are top notch! I love browsing the stalls at my local FRESHFARM market and am always so impressed with the produce and goods I find there. I appreciate that FRESHFARM is always innovating and looking for new ways to better serve our communities and farmers.
