Mission: The foundation enables the wisconsin automobile and truck dealers association to be responsible corporate citizens by providing philanthropic funds to worthwhile statewide causes.
Programs: Transportation technician scholarships are awarded to students who successfully qualify through the foundation's open enrollment process. The enrollment process provides each applicant the opportunity to test their technical and academic aptitude to determine their individual career abilities. In 2017, the foundation assisted 230 applicants through the process and awarded one- and two-year scholarships totaling almost $379,000 (including $ 251,460 in donated automotive tool sets) to transportation technology students attending all 16 of wisconsin's technical colleges.
the career awareness program served 19,000 students at 19 presentation sites throughout wisconsin. Attendees and their families were introduced to the variety of work opportunities available at dealerships and the education requirements for them. This program also provides students with information on successful job search and interview techniques to apply on any opportunity in their employment search. The foundation also conducts two teacher certification institutes for transportation technology teachers to assist them in maintaining their professional status. The 2017 teachers institute provided 1,600 professional credit hours to participants.
the wisconsin automotive youth education system (ayes) started in 1997. Ayes is a satellite program that assists both transportation students and the high schools programs students participate in through industry certified education providing continuing education and lifelong employment for graduates. The foundation's ayes program continues to serve 19 active high school and co-op sites throughout wisconsin and served over 2,100 students in 2017.
