Mission: To support, benefit and carry out the purposes of organizations whose charitable and educational activities advance the independence, productivity and full citizenship of people with disabilities and improve the quality of life of people with developmental disabilities and their families.
Programs: The foundation for ucp of sacramento and northern california ensures children with developmental disabilities can live their lives - their whole lives - without limits. We are investing in the future of the children of today - children with intellectual disabilities, autism, down syndrome, cerebral palsy, epilepsy and more than 20 other developmental disabilities. These children will need ucp programs in 10, 20, 30 or more years, including adult day programs, transportation, autism programs, adaptive horsemanship, family respite care, independent living skills training and more to meet the future needs of today's children. Autism is the most diagnosed developmental disability in today's children, with 1 in 88 children diagnosed on the autism spectrum. These children will need new programs as they become teens, as well as independent living skills training when they become adults. Ucp drives more than 4,500 miles a day, transporting people with disabilities to connect them to their community. In 10 or 20 years, those miles will only increase to support our growing region. Families now receive 15,000 hours of respite care each month - a number growing exponentially each year as government funding for adult day programs remains static and families must spend more time caring for loved ones with developmental disabilities.
