Mission: Providing food security programs with the main focus on child nutrition programs through school based platforms in angola, mozambique, south africa, rwanda and south sudan.
Programs: Nutritional school feeding and agricultural development: jam's nutrition intervention aims to improve and monitor child nutrition, improve and monitor maternal nutrition, promote child protection, early childhood care and primary school education,and promote healthcare through nutrition. Through school feeding, jam not only contributes to averting short term hunger in children but the highly nutritious csb porridge gives much needed nutritional value to children's growing bodies. In addition to schoool feeding in different countries, jam has a long standing partnership with unicef in providing much needed nutrition intervention to under 5s and pregnant and lactating women in jonglei, south sudan reaching an estimated 91,844 beneficiaries in 2017. In angola, jam was able to complete the treatment of 3,571 patients in the six nutrition centres in benguela province.
water, sanitation & hygiene: the overall goal of the project is to contribute to the reduction of incidence and prevalence of water, sanitation and hygiene (wash) related disease transmission through improved water supply and capacity building in operation and maintenance of water points in the targeted communities. Through this project, the targeted beneficiaries will improve their health living conditions through provision of clean water and hygiene awareness. In 2017 jam drilled 123 wells in mozambique and angola.
training: jam supports vocational training in the rwanda program providing essential lifeskills to youth that dropped out of school. A total of 406 trainees benefited from the program in 2017.
