Causes: Arts & Culture, Theater
Mission: To provide the best in theatre entertainment for the lowcountry: to provide an outlet for the talent, energies and cultural aspirations of the community; and to create and establish for the future, a theatre rooted in the traditions, needs and dreams of the community.
Programs: Main stage productions: this is what footlight has been doing for over 80 seasons. Producing different shows for the charleston community made up entirely of volunteers. Each show runs for 3 weeks and we serve over 9,000 with this series of all ages and demographics.
rental facility: footlight players provides the theater as a space for the piccolo spoleto festival. While this festival is going on we have about 10 different companies performing over 55 shows in just the 17 day period. We also rent our facility out to other performing arts groups who do not have a space if we do not have a show going on ourselves. This provides these companies a place to perform, as there is a tremendous lack of medium sized venues in the charleston area.
