Mission: The mission of focus points family resource center is to help build better communities by strengthening familes.
Programs: Adult education programs - includes adult basic education (abe), adult secondary education (ase) and english language acquisition (ela). These programs include teaching basic education skills in reading and writing, and teaching english to non-native-english-speaking adults. The center follows the family literacy model, which strives to involve every member of the family in the learning process. More than 570 adults were served in these programs.
on-site childcare, pat and hippy programs. These programs help prepare children for school, emphasizing the importance of parents reading to their children and helping children learn basic skills. 185 children were enrolled in pat and hippy. In addition, the on-site childcare service provides educational-based activities and care for approximately 150 children.
family & community programs. Through the family and community programs, focus points provides healthy living and basic needs services to over 400 families. These programs include a wide range of fitness classes, mental health support, utility bill assistance, medical insurance sign-up, food stamp registration, a community garden, a bicycle rental service, notary public work, community resource referrals, and family goal planning.
