Mission: Unite people and resources to improve the health and well-being of pregnant women, children, and their families through prenatal care, care coordination, safety and parenting education and resources.
Programs: The healthy start program continued to serve over 75 percent of families in monroe county who welcomed new children this year. Services provided included care coordination, childbirth education, breastfeeding counseling, insurance application assistance, nutritional counseling, smoking cessation, parenting education and interconceptional care. In addition, the space occupied by the coalition is provided free of charge by the monroe county health department. The fair market value of the free space provided is 43,144.
the healthy babies program served over 31 families ensuring that they received the prenatal care necessary to have a healthy baby. By partnering with our local doctors and other community members this program covers reduced fee medical visits, lab work requirements, ultrasounds, and numerous other requests to achieve this goal. To support these services, physicians donated $38,750 of their time and services.
through the keys to kids safety program, we ensured over 210 children were traveling in safe, propertly installed child safety seats. This program allowed us to hold 12 community wide events promoting the importance of child passenger safety, and provided child passenger safety education to families, community members and local partnering agencies. This program also addressed safe sleep through education and providing over 52 beds to families. We expanded even further to address nutritional safety needs by providing breastfeeding education & supplies as well as educational opportunities for parents of toddlers. We educated 42 parents and caregivers in cpr & first aid classes this year. We are expanding into water safety in the upcoming year.
