Causes: Human Service Organizations, Human Services
Mission: Firehouse Quilts volunteers make snuggle quilts and donate them to Colorado fire departments, local ambulance services, low-income hospitals, victim advocate offices & twin size quilts to Women's Crisis Center in Douglas County to be given to children & their mothers in time of crisis.
Results: Our major fund-raiser is an annual quilt show, the 3rd weekend of July at Cherry Hills Community Church, 3900 Grace Blvd in Highlands Ranch CO. This fundraiser helps to purchase supplies to continue our mission. Please see our website www.firehousequilts.org for more info.
Target demographics: Children in crisis or traumatic events.
Direct beneficiaries per year: Approximately 1,000 children received one of our quilts this year.
Geographic areas served: Northridge Rec Center in Highlands Ranch co
Programs: Our quilts are donated to: over 30 Colorado Fire Districts (firefighters give the quilts to children they see on their emergency runs), local ambulance services (EMTs also give our quilts to children they take to hospitals/emergency rooms), Denver Health Hospital (Newborns in Need program), Douglas/Elbert Task Force (parents that aren't financially able to give their children a birthday gift can choose one of our quilts for them),
