Mission: FilmSlam is a unique showcase event for local independent filmmakers and their audiences, which fosters community and promotes inclusivity, experimentation, creativity, constructive feedback, and positive support. We are a safe space for filmmakers of all ages, disciplines, backgrounds, and abilities, including filmmakers who happen to be female, minority artists, and members of the LGBTQ+ community.
Results: Since 2004, FilmSlam has been Central Florida's only consistent public screening event for independent filmmakers. We are a popular local screening event and a collaborative, creative networking opportunity for independent and student filmmakers throughout Florida! We have been independently organized by local artists who donate their time and talents to ensure Florida's novice, student, and professional filmmakers and storytellers, especially those in Central Florida, have a dedicated public place to screen their works. Our in-person screenings may be seen monthly inside the Orlando Museum of Art's Truist Auditorium.
Target demographics: independent short filmmakers get their work seen by the public
Direct beneficiaries per year: Over 100 filmmakers share their work with the public!
Geographic areas served: Florida
Programs: Monthly, in-person screenings at the Orlando Museum of Art, live after-show filmmaker Q&A, direct audience feedback with our monthly audiences, and informal meet-and-greet opportunities with fellow filmmakers, crew, and other local artists!
