Nonprofit Overview
Causes: Arts & Culture, Theater
Mission: Fresh ground pepper incubates and celebrates new works of art by adventurous artists of all mediums. We believe that the creative spirit is nurtured by delighted exploration and collaborative communities. Fgp strives to find new voices and push them each toward surprising frontiers.
Programs: In 2017 we focused on shifting our programs towards longer-term development, preparing for a culminating performance of each artists' work the following spring, at our first annual festival. The playground playgroup spent the year writing and workshopping new works, giving and receiving feedback from fellow artists each month. The new producer's lab took passed on our recurring events series to a group of new creative producers who worked collaboratively to produce one open-submission event in the fall and prepare for another larger event in 2018. The fgp brb retreat brought together artists and university student apprentices for 3-weeks creating new work in the woods, and offered them a chance to showcase their development upon return in nyc. Our newest program, in-house artists, created a small team of performers, directors, and creators of all kinds to make one entriely new and collaborative production, premiering at next year's festival.
