Causes: Military & Veterans Organizations, Veterans
Mission: Support military personnel and military families of fort bragg and pope air force base by engaging the entire greater fayetteville community by providing an avenue for local citizens to support the troops and their families.
Programs: Boots & booties 2011 - held on june 25, 2011 at the crown center in fayetteville, nc, boots & booties is a baby shower that hosted 1,000 military moms and mothers-to-be as a show of appreciation to the military and their families. Each military mom received a bag of goodies such as diapers, toys and clothes. Moms also received items such as car seats, baby monitors and one mom won a new car. The event also included booths that provided information on topics such as baby safety and breast-feeding.
heroes homecoming - heroes homecoming was a 10 day event celebrating the vietnam veteran. The 10 days included (1) an education piece about the war and how it impacted the local community; (2) cultural experiences including opportunities to learn about the art, history, food and more of vietnam; and (3) honoring the vietnam veteran. Over 100 events spanned the 10 days culminating with a veterans day parade that included dozens of vietnam veterans who were "welcomed home". Over 1,000 vietnam veterans from across the county attended the event.
single soldier support - provided food and hygiene items to the barracks of approximately 2,738 soldiers returning from deployments.
