Fantasy Playhouse serves Huntsville and North Alabama in the arena of education and entertainment for children by involving them into the performing arts. Their productions incompass many adults in the volunteer positions of set building, costuming and other technical fields, while directors take over getting the blocking and script to performance level for the cast. Usually their productions have an overall "tour show" quality with much attention to detailing. Literally thousands of children have benifited from their relationship with Fantasy with more confidence and abilities to work as a team.

Mission: Fantasy Playhouse Children’s Theater and Academy (FPCTA) provides theatre arts access through production, education and outreach, reaching more than 31,000 residents annually, including 16,000 children and youth. FPCTA enriches the lives of children and families through theatre and arts education, encouraging students to become self-confident, academically successful, creative-thinking citizens who are more likely to invest in their communities as adults. FPCTA’s core programs include live children’s theatre productions, classes, camps, workshops, and educational outreach through after school theatre classes and In-school touring programs. Recognizing the transformative power theatre arts can have in the life of a child, FPCTA prioritizes theatre arts access for all by engaging local underserved communities.
Programs: Fpct is now serving a thrid generation of alabamians as a gateway to theatre, creating new theatre audiences, performers and technical artists along the way. The fpct academy offers a variety of theatre arts training for children aged 3-18. In 2012, fpct expanded programming to include local school partnerships ("fantasy in the classroom") to teach basic acting curriculum to grades k-8 in partnering huntsville & madison city schools as well as private educational institutions. Fpct preserves and shares alabama's living cultural heritage by fostering the state's history of community theatre and providing an outlet for local artisans to create imaginative costumes, stunning makeup design, beautifully rendered scenic painting and set design. Final dress rehearsals will be presented free of charge to groups catering to underserved populations. There is no cost associated with performing in fpct shows and auditions are open to the public, which means casts are diverse along socio-economic lines. Fpct believes that no child should be denied an education in theatre arts and to that end, offers tuition assistance to students demostrating need and has provided preschool early music education and creative play classes to hundreds of children in west huntsville at second mile preschool.
