Mission: Family crisis services, inc. Is dedicated to promoting safety and justice for victims of domestic violence and sexual assault through advocacy, support, and education.
Programs: Victim advocacy: family crisis staff are highly trained and provide individualized personal and legal advocacy, counseling specific to domestic violence and sexual assault, support groups, case management, court and hospital accompaniment, community referrals, youth and community education, and providing a 24-hour hotline. All services are provided for free and are completely confidential. Fcsi also maintains relationships with other service providers throughout the community to provide the best collaboration of services to survivors when needed. The new therapy program at family crisis services has grown to include two therapists who provide on-going therapeutic services to victims of interpersonal violence and trauma. Family crisis services has also implemented closed support groups which have been highly successful and run 10 to 12 weeks at a time. The support groups are, "journeys," "codependent no more," "gifts of imperfection,- and "reclamations" (specific to sexual assault survivors).
the safehouse: family crisis services provided services to 293 victims of domestic violence and/or sexual assault. Additionally, fcsi provided 1,943 nights of safe shelter to 32 women and 25 children.
community education and outreach: family crisis services develops and delivers training and education to volunteers, schools, churches, community and civic organizations, first responders, and any others who request it. We present information on domestic violence, sexual assault, bystander intervention, effect on children, and more. Outreach office hours are held on a weekly basis in custer county to ensure accessibility of services in this rural, remote area. Through community events and services, fcsi reach 1021 people in 2017. To raise awareness about sexual assault, family crisis services held its 11th annual take back the night march and rally in april 2017. This event has become a hugely supported and expected one for our community, with over 100 participants in 2017. Donations for this event go directly towards buying t-shirts that are given away to community members at the event which also raise awareness. Also raise awareness.
