I don't know what I would have done without Family Care Center. I lost my job and then my home.
Their assistance to me and my son and mother was wonderful and the workshops were great.

I'm a retired person volunteering two days a week at the FCC. In answering phones for the Center you realize that there are so many individuals, some desperate, in need of an immediate temporary housing situation due to abuse, eviction, and other unhealthy family situations. The FCC provides such assistance to these individuals while relieving them of the added financial burden of housing as they move from a dependent situation to independence. In these days when people like to criticize those who are in unfortunate family situations, it is refreshing to find an organization that provides additional services to its residents, such as tutoring for children, health and nutrition classes, financial management classes, employment counseling, etc. In doing this people are then able to provide for themselves as they save weekly and move on after their limited residence here. Accountability is the goal, and as you go through the community it is comforting to encounter these individuals in new their new roles as employed , responsible citizens.
I have been volunteering here for almost 2 years and have witnessed first hand how much effort goes in to meeting as many of the needs of our families as possible. They recognize that every situation is unique on some level and seek to serve the individuals involved. The program the families commit to is structured and expectations are set high for the greatest opportunity for success. The compassion I have witnessed from the staff here towards the families served is consistent and genuine.
