Mission: Families first is dedicated to promoting the secure, nurturing parent-child relationships that are the foundation of every child's well-being and future success.
Programs: Families first provides original, research-based parenting programs for more than 700 families in the greater boston area, benefiting approximately 1,500 children. For these families, stronger parent-child relationships are helping to set their children on a path to success in school and life. By partnering with local organizations, families first brings parents together in their own communities. During a comprehensive program of workshops and family support, parents build:" knowledge of child development" parenting skills and strategies" resources and support systemsresearch shows that this vital combination of knowledge, skills, and support strengthens the parent-child relationship and makes families less stressed and more resilient. This is a uniquely effective foundation for lasting change in families. Programs are strengths-based, building on the skills and knowledge parents already have to help them become the parents they want to be. We offer workshops that are geared to specific parenting challenges and children's developmental stages, which empower parents and equip them with the tools they need to build healthy, supportive relationships with their children.
