Since 1972, pico has successfully worked to increase access to health care, improve public schools, make neighborhoods safer, build affordable housing, redevelop communities and revitalize democracy. Pico helps engage ordinary people in public life, building a strong legacy of leadership in thousands of local communities across america. Programs: Pico network national initiative/policy change & communications:- pico provides policy and communications support to innovate local and state pico network campaigns to improve public education, revitalize neighborhoods, hold government accountable, increase the availability of high quality credit and affordable housing, expand health coverage and improve the quality of health care and make communities safer. - pico works with local network organizations to analyze and understand the impact of federal policy on local communities. - pico provides policy and communications support to coordinate network-wide campaigns designed to educate the community and public officials about critical national issues that impact the lives of people in local communities.
pico network statewide organizing & support: -pico provides staff to support the development of collaborative pico work amongst network organizations within the states of california, louisiana, florida, missouri, colorado, new jersey, massachusetts, vermont, and new mexico. -pico provides consultation to network organizations within vermont, massachusetts, new york, new jersey, pennsylvania, alabama, florida, louisiana, michigan, missouri, colorado, new mexico, california, indiana, kansas, hawaii, texas, and nevada on leadership development, organizational development and issue development. - pico assists local network organizations by offering professional staff development trainings to professional staff of organizations within the above named states. - pico supports collaboration and learning across network organizations within the above named states by sponsoring conferences that highlight best practices amongst organizations. -pico supports a team of peer coaches who provide weekly support to local network organizations within the above named states. -pico supports the development of new network organizations within the above named states when invited to do so.
pico network staff, leadership and network development, recruitment & outreach:- pico provides consultation to leaders and staff of network organizations in the area of staff development, leadership development, issue development and organizational planning. - pico assists local network organizations by offering professional staff development training three times a year. - pico supports collaboration and learning across network organizations by sponsoring conferences that highlight best practices amongst organizations. - pico supports a team of peer coaches who provide weekly support to local network organizations. - pico supports the development of new network organizations when invited to do so. - pico holds six-day national leadership training sessions for clergy and lay leaders in the spring, summer and fall. - pico holds annual board training sessions for network organization board members, offering training in fiscal management and oversight, organizational leadership and other critical skills for non-profit board members. - pico holds regional and national clergy training sessions to help clergy better lead their congregations to address community issues.
