Mission: Envirofit evolved from research at the Colorado State University Engines and Energy Conversion Laboratory (EECL), a world leader in designing energy-efficient, low-emissions engines. Founded in October 2003, our mission is to bring cleaner technologies to the developing world. Envirofit uses a participatory development approach, delivering appropriate technologies and viable business models to attack chronic environmental problems such as air pollution. An estimated 3?6 million people die each year as a result of air pollution. Because of the chronic nature of air pollution, and the fact that its impacts fall disproportionately on the poor, it is not always recognized for its pervasive role in poor health, poverty and economic stagnation.
Programs: Factor(e)'s exempt purpose is the development and dissemination of technologies that reduce pollution or enhance energy efficiency in developing areas, thereby enhancing the environment and public health, fostering economic growth and alleviating poverty. In 2017 we evaluated several technologies that could enhance the energy services available at the base of the pyramid; that work was shared with the philanthropic community through multiple channels and has served to guide factor(e)'s strategy for supporting technologies moving forward. Additionally, factor (e) supported charitable educational institutions in 2017 that are supporting students and their ability to get involved with energy to access issues in the developing world.
