I am writing this letter of recommendation for Mrs. Jackie Bosby. I have known Jackie for nine
years and collaborated with her on various projects and programs five of those eight years.
Mrs. Bosby was an administrator for the Boggs Rural Life Center (BRLC) which was an out-
growth of The Historical Boggs Academy College Preparatory School 1906-1984, of which I am
a graduate. At the time when I met Mrs. Bosby, I had been voted President of Boggs Academy
National Alumni Association (BANAA) for the years 2014-2015.
Whenever our administrators or alumni traveled to BRLC Campus we met with Mrs. Bosby.
She always displayed a very competent, personable, warm and supportive demeanor. Prior to
our collaborating the alumni and BRLC had not communicated for about ten years.
Once we connected, she was instrumental in assisting us to set-up and display an alumni
museum which shared the past of our historical school and its students’ diverse backgrounds.
Next, she assisted in establishing a mentoring program for high school seniors of the
community which involved matching them with ACTIVE Boggs Academy National Alumni
Members within and outside the community.
One of the greater accomplishments occurred October 10-12, 2014, when the two 501c3
entities joined together to bring to life the 28 th All School Reunion which was hosted by the
Augusta Chapter with much aide from Mrs. Bosby, who is an amazing facilitator. Following the
aforementioned accomplishments and events, she and our administrators discussed so many
other possibilities for progress that will aid our alumni and the Burke County Community, as a
matter of fact talks involving the role of an alumni house are still being discussed.
It was such a pleasure working with Mrs. Bosby. She is very dedicated and hard-working and
has been a part of our annual reunion booklet team for several years and has shown a huge
amount of resourcefulness when it comes to reaching out to the community, within the region
as well as outside.
I volunteered to write this recommendation for Mrs. Bosby because I am very grateful for her
contributions to our organization and very confident that she has the intelligence, work ethic
and communications skills to add value wherever she works. Please feel free to contact me if
you have any further questions.
It is my pleasure to share my experience in knowing Jackie Bosby. I met her a couple years ago. She was the epitome of a fearless but very structural businesswoman. I shared my goals and dreams with her and asked for assistance. She never wavered in our conversations. I was straightforward with her and told her that I was interested in applying for some grants to try and start up some programs in our community. Although, I had no experience in grant writing, Jackie welcomed the opportunity to
help me.
In the coming weeks and months, I set up a meeting with a committee from my Church and we met with
Jackie. We discussed what we were looking to accomplish in our endeavor to empower our
community through being a positive force in the community. Jackie helped us in getting the ball in motion. She is full o knowledge in so many areas of Grant Writing and strategic planning. Always a phone or zoom call away.
My hat is off to Jackie for always being available and willing to assist in any way. To much is given, much is required. Jackie you are that Remarkable Epitome of what the world needs more of.
The founder, Jacqueline Bosby has an amazing heart and takes everyone under her wing. She makes each person feel uniquely powerful and gifted. My story started with telling her about my desire to impact educational outcomes but not solely as a teacher. Her organization had just secured a grant to offer adult literacy in a low-income housing community. She offered me the opportunity to both design the curriculum for the class and to teach it.
From there, she showed me how she created educational programs and took them to schools throughout Georgia. I eventually moved to Baltimore, MD and have since made a career out of replicating her work. She is so inspiring that she not only feeds you with knowledge, but she teaches you how to fish for yourself.
The impact of the work this organization does is far beyond the limited time they spend with you. The impact lasts a lifetime and has an infinite impact on everyone else who comes into contact with those they have inspired. When you donate to this organization, you’re donating to large scale change!
I was in subway when the Executive Director of Express HOME Program came in and asked if she could host a baby shower for a young mother with no family around, I stayed and listened to the details and went back to see if the young lady enjoyed herself, after watching her look so grateful I decided to through a baby shower for a homeless teen I had heard about. Because of her act of kindness it gave me the confidence to do one also. So I hope knowing Mrs. Bosby and all she do will continue to encourage others to continue to help.
Express HOME Program, JPN, TV Lady, or just Ms. B, she is all of those companies and more. She was over our leadership program in Elberton, Ga. I was in her first leadership program and then I came back to volunteer with her in 2012, our group did a lot of community service projects. My cousin attended Burke County High School and tried to join in 2015, but her schedule didn't allow her to participate. She meet Ms B at one of our events. She sent me a picture that blew me away and I will share it. Ms. B was in a real bad car accident and when she should of been recuperating she came in her wheel chair to a prom safety event one of her leadership groups had coordinated. She found out the Principal was going to have to cancel it because there wasn't an advisor. So not to let this group down or ask another teacher to give up a little time she found a way to be there and I heard it was one of many successful programs these students implemented.
Ms B, taught us so many things but at the time I didn't see it I just had fun. A few times she even had College students helping, but she taught them too, rather taught them how to teach us. She allowed us to create our own community service projects, some was job related and others she called self accountability. We had to raise our own money to do our projects, and she would even set that up, again when I look back no one complained about the meetings or trainings even though she encouraged us to complete any homework before we could even work on our projects. It seemed like each meeting we had friends bringing friends and all Ms. B. would do is find another space for us to meet.
She encouraged and taught me so much and I will be forever grateful. She also helped me develop my tax preparation business, by teaching 10 - 15 of us each year how to prepare taxes with my team project being Student Tax Time, my team 7 students prepared taxes every Tuesday from Feb 15th - April 15th for our classmates. Today I am a CPA with my degree in Accounting and a successful tax business. We love you Ms. B!
I meet Mrs. J. Bosby in the summer of 2014. I had just been released from prison and a great friend of mine told me of a program headed by Mrs. Bosby and the later Cowboy Mike Searles called the second chance round table. Long story short, I was looking for an opportunity to help those in the same situation as my own. Mrs. J. Bosby helped me create a hands-on manual called Educational and Resource Training Program for Returning Citizens. She also provided me with the opportunity to service the 1250-acre campus that she directed. Mrs. Bosby helps EVERYBODY!!!! you don't even have to ask, if she see the need she'll approach you. I've never seen her turn anybody away whether you were worthy or not and a lot of people she helped was not worthy, but she helped them anyway. I can say that today myself and Mrs. Bosby are the best of friends, she truly taught me how to care and how to love and help EVERYBODY. Thank you very much Mrs. Bosby for your Mag Namous service!
I met Mrs. Bosby during my high school years and developed an amazing mentor relationship that follows me to this day. The many events and programs her and my team constructed and/or hosted during participation of their leadership program were always insightful and helped to instill some great qualities within myself and my other team members. This program was and is nothing short of greatness.
Mrs Bosby came to our school two days a week for my last 2 years of high school. She traveled over 2 hours to give some of us that special attention and support. Because of Mrs Bosby and the Burke County leadership program she provided I graduated with a since of pride. I was told our class was the last one she did in Burke County, Ga.
I meet Michael and Jackie in 2017 at a Youth Heritage Expo they coordinated at our private little school. They allowed all of our high schoolers the opportunity to help create exhibits which they supervised. We want to thank Mr Michael from providing us with a beautiful video of the days event. These two people provided this for our families for free and we thank them
When I met the Executive Director of this organization more than a decade ago, I knew she was something special. Her story is all about helping others. She turned her personal home into a homeless shelter for pregnant teens. This actually wasn't the beginning, but definitely a major turning point for the direction her organization has evolved into over the years. One thing is for use...this woman LOVES helping others. She's never turned anyone down for help and she especially has a soft spot for youth. One interesting story is that she sponsored, funded and held a graduation for several high school students in Georgia that passed their regular coursework for 4 years, however did not pass the State HS graduation test and were not able to "walk" with their classmates. She wanted to show them that someone did care about their achievements. What's more is that the Governor just wrote a bill that gives a waiver to all students that attended High School but didn't pass this test from the years 1981 - 2015, allowing them to obtain their diplomas anyway!!!!
The only thing that is missing for this woman, who gives her time, resources and energy to help others and has been for more than 30 years, is funders that can see what she has done and is doing and supports her in her efforts for the community and the youth, particularly disadvantaged youth. She is the epitome of what a caring and compassionate person represents and she exemplifies what it means to serve!
Jackie Bosby, I salute you and honor your commitment and efforts to show others you care, even when others don't seem to.
