Equality Federation Institute

Programs: Equality federation institute is the movement builder and strategic partner to state-based organizations advocating for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (lgbtq) people. We believe change is possible in every community. We promote change through our two major program areas - advocacy and leadership. Through our advocacy program, we serve as a valued partner in the advancement of pro-lgbtq policies and the defeat of anti-lgbtq policies in the states. Continued on schedule oduring 2017 we provided state groups access to the efi nondiscrimination model and training on the state voices van; created smarter strategy around passage of nondiscrimination laws that takes into account the challenges of this work; produced, distributed, and presented various reports to multiple stakeholders within and outside the lgbtq movement regarding nondiscrimination strategy and laws; offered training in newest nondiscrimination messaging, including attacks on transgender people and "bathroom bills; implemented legislative tracking system; consistently monitor lgbtq legislation in all 50 states. Through our leadership program, we are able to provide tailored support that meets their unique needs and follow them as their organizations grow and their own capacity for leadership increases. During 2017, we convened more than 200 state and national movement leaders for peer-learning, training, strategic thinking, and networking at our annual leadership conference. We convened over 50 state lgbtq leaders for our southern leadership summit and midwest leadership summits with strong participation from states in those regions. We provided tailored on-site organizational development services in 8 states, at least four of which were in the southern region. We also conducted our annual executive director boot camp for the newest leaders in our movement.
