Mission: Mission - To reduce preventable injuries and deaths by educating the public in order to raise awareness and promote healthy lifestyles. The organization began in 1985 as a two-nurse effort to decrease the needless injuries and deaths of young people in the emergency department. Now the Injury Prevention Institute of the Emergency Nurses Association, we are a nationwide organization with thousands of health professionals who volunteer in their communities to reduce injuries and deaths from many different preventable injuries, including drinking and driving, safety belt non-use, child safety seat misuse. They educate about proper bike safety and firearms safety. Since 1985, these nurses have reached more than 3 million people with their injury prevention messages.
