EFEC is a tremendous organization which helps the staff of Eagle County School District. They have begun so many programs which bring joy to the volunteer/staff member and the children. EFEC provides love to the school community and beyond.
The Education Foundation of Eagle County is committed to supporting public education and the intellectual and emotional needs of students, especially focusing on in-school programs for enrichment, mental health support, and efforts to attract and retain top teacher talent.
I am incredibly impressed with the Education Foundation of Eagle County (EFEC). This organization has made a significant impact on our community by supporting teachers, students, and educational programs. EFEC's commitment to enhancing education in Eagle County is evident through their various initiatives, such as the Distinguished Teacher Scholarship Awards, monetary Apple Awards, and recognition programs that celebrate educators' dedication and excellence. One of the standout aspects of EFEC is their focus on mental health programs and classroom grants for STEM, arts, music, and equity learning. These programs ensure that students' intellectual and emotional needs are prioritized, creating a well-rounded educational experience[. Additionally, EFEC's School Staff Support Corps provides invaluable support to teachers by covering recess and lunch duties, allowing educators to concentrate on their primary responsibilities.
EFEC's innovative approach and dedication to addressing the challenges faced by our education system make them a leader in Colorado's education landscape. Their efforts in teacher retention, community engagement, and advocacy for better funding and resources are truly commendable.
Efec has been such a blessing all around to our community. They are committed to the teachers and children to truly make a difference for all. Specifically for us, the summer music and arts camp has been our go-to for the last handful of summers. It is one of the only full day summer camps at an affordable price that lets our children shine! My daughter was timid about learning the ukulele at first, and day one, came home beyond thrilled to learn the instrument and couldn't wait to practice! She said "I actually really like playing the ukulele!" The days were filled with fun musical instruction, fabulous art projects, yoga, meditation, sound baths, games and playground, and time with new friends! Efec continues to stay committed to our children, and help them shine! I am truly grateful to have them here in our community!
My children have matriculated through our public school system, so I’ve been able to see first-hand the impact EFEC has in our schools. EFEC supports our teachers in crucial ways, helps our PTAs, comes to the rescue anytime the school district needs assistance, and aids students’ success at every stage. EFEC’s impact is far-reaching - elevating not just our schools, but the community as a whole. We are all lucky this organization exists. I know my children were better for it!
It is with great pride and heartfelt conviction that I recommend the Education Foundation of Eagle County. As a founding member of this organization, I have witnessed its growth and incredible impact over the past 12 years. The Foundation was built on the belief that the most powerful influence on our students’ success is a great teacher in the classroom, and we’ve committed ourselves to supporting our educators in every way possible.
From day one, the Foundation has worked tirelessly to ensure that teachers feel recognized, valued, and supported. Whether through efforts to retain exceptional teachers or providing classroom grants that directly enhance the learning environment, our goal has always been to give educators the tools they need to succeed. Over the years, I have personally seen how these initiatives have transformed not only the lives of our teachers but also the educational experiences of the students they serve.
My passion for public education runs deep. I truly believe that supporting our schools is one of the most impactful ways we can invest in the future of our community. The educators we empower today are shaping the leaders, innovators, and citizens of tomorrow. It is a privilege to be part of an organization so deeply committed to the success of our teachers and, by extension, our children.
I wholeheartedly recommend the Education Foundation of Eagle County for their unwavering dedication to public education, and I encourage everyone to support this vital mission. Together, we can continue to nurture the bright futures of the children in our community.
In 2012, when my son was just six years old and starting his school journey, I discovered that Colorado ranked near the bottom in the nation for public education funding. After a tax initiative failed that same year—an effort I volunteered for—my friends and I revitalized the Public Education Foundation of Eagle County, now the Education Foundation of Eagle County (EFEC) to help address the funding challenges faced by our under-resourced schools.
After nine years of volunteering with EFEC, I became the Executive Director in 2020. I couldn’t be happier in this role. Since 2011, we have significantly grown our budget and take pride in being the #1 teacher retention initiative in Eagle County, Colorado, and a leader in the state for these efforts.
I am immensely grateful to EFEC, our dedicated teachers, and our generous donors for their unwavering support of our mission to elevate education in our community!
We are deeply grateful to EFEC for their unwavering support of our schools. Their generous funding for AP textbooks has made a significant difference in our school, easing the financial burden on families and ensuring that all students have access to the materials they need to succeed.
EFEC’s dedication to education and student achievement is truly inspiring. We are fortunate to have such a committed partner in our efforts to create brighter futures for every child. EFEC's impact on our schools and community is immeasurable, and we couldn’t be more appreciative of their ongoing support.
Thank you, EFEC, for believing in our school and our students!
After the recession of 2008/10, public education funding in Colorado dropped precipitously, and has never fully recovered. The Education Foundation of Eagle County stepped in in a huge way to provide greater local funding, to advocate for improved statewide funding, to create programs that recognize and award teachers, and generally to elevate public education in Eagle County. My time has never been so well spent nor been so rewarding as it has supporting EFEC, its amazing staff, and the staff and educators in our local schools!
The Distinguished Teacher Award from EFEC has played a pivotal role in my professional development and accomplishments. With the financial support and recognition provided by the award, I was able to pursue the University of Denver's Educational Leadership and Policy Studies (ELPS) program. This program equipped me with the necessary tools and knowledge to address educational challenges at all levels.
Through the ELPS program, I developed expertise in leadership, systems thinking, policy, and research. These skills have been invaluable in my current role as the Education Technology Specialist for EC schools. I have successfully led initiatives such as the development of a pre-K through 12 Grade computer science curriculum, co-chaired the Connect2Learn task force, and overseen the district's media centers.
The Distinguished Teacher Award from EFEC not only provided financial assistance but also served as a validation of my contributions to education. It boosted my confidence and motivated me to take on new challenges and pursue ambitious goals. The award's recognition has opened doors for me, allowing me to connect with influential individuals and organizations in the field.
I am grateful for the opportunity to have been a recipient of the Distinguished Teacher Award. EFEC's support has been instrumental in my professional growth and my ability to make a positive impact on education. I am committed to using the skills and knowledge I have gained to continue driving innovation and improvement in the field.
EFEC grew out of a school funding crisis when the community didn't pass an initiative in an election. Since that time many years ago, they have worked closely with the district to help hire, retain and reward great teachers. They have also been important in partnering with behavioral health organizations to get counselors in schools and remediate a suicide crisis. They have provided daily support for stressed and overworked teachers through an assistant program. Their advocacy has brought in huge amounts of education funding. I am in awe of how much a small, lean non-profit has been able to accomplish.
