Mission: We envision a world in which everyone takes action for a healthy planet. Whether the action is big or small, it is about growing awareness and inspiring change. To achieve this, we provide individuals, businesses, and nonprofits with the tools to work together for a more just and sustainable world. Our planet’s issues are becoming increasingly urgent and complex, and environmental nonprofits are woefully underfunded, receiving only 2% of all philanthropy globally. We need a movement of support that is accessible, inclusive, and built for scale. EarthShare has launched a suite of bold new tools and initiatives to take environmental action to the next level. We’re helping people and businesses support their favorite environmental causes in more effective and collaborative ways. We want it to be easier than ever for an increasingly powerful, diverse, and informed network to get involved in pivotal environmental solutions.
Results: For over 35 years, EarthShare has served environmental nonprofits by helping them access public and private workplace giving campaigns. Our Nonprofit Partner Network of vetted environmental nonprofits includes 500 local, national, and international organizations, from large and well-known nonprofits like The Nature Conservancy and The Sierra Club to smaller grassroots organizations like West Harlem Environmental Action (WE ACT) and Detroiters Working for Environmental Justice. EarthShare has rallied millions of people in support of the planet, mobilizing more than $375M for the planet and countless hours of volunteering. But we’re not satisfied with our status quo. Motivated by the urgent threats facing our planet, it became clear we needed to redefine how we approach our overall impact. We recently opened-up and are expanding our Nonprofit Network to organizations across the United States with the goal of creating a Nonprofit Network that represents the full range of solutions needed to combat the environmental crisis. We seek to welcome new Nonprofit Partners working in regions and issue areas underrepresented with an emphasis on marginalized voices, addressing issues like environmental and climate justice, and forging deep relationships with an inclusive collective of amazing organizations dedicated to the environment. To drive more dollars towards creating a healthier planet, EarthShare created the world’s first environmentally focused digital platform that allows anyone to create a no-minimum donor-advised fund (DAF), make donations to any U.S. 501(c)(3), and manage their impact. Our Giving and Engagement Platform leverages technology to help break down barriers that discourage participation in the environmental space and inspire people with stories about urgent issues. The DAF platform allows individuals to open donor-advised fund accounts to make donations, volunteer, and purchase carbon offsets.
