Mission: Donated by the graves family in 1937 to provide learning opportunities and out-of-door experiences for girls and young women, eagle island camp has developed generations of women leaders. The mission of eagle island, inc. Is to perpetuate this legacy by providing an environmentally responsible adirondack island camping experience for diverse youth, with an emphasis on girls and young women, while preserving eagle island's natural and historic character. Eagle island, inc. Aims to develop leadership and team building skills through premier programming to help young people succeed in todays global landscape.
Programs: Eagle island, inc was officially granted permission to reestablish the camp by the town of santa clara. Eagle island was opened for limited public access in 2017, which included a celebration of the 80th anniversary of the graves' gift, several historic tours, and hosting a plein air artist event. Eagle island, inc. Performed critical repairs and maintenance. Capital projects included repairs to the foundation and roof of the mariner boat house and the carpenter shed. Volunteers maintained trails, installed new flooring in the shower house and restored windows and doors, as well as numerous other painting and repair projects.
