Causes: Arts & Culture, Theater
Mission: Double edge theatre strives to create the highest quality of original performances and to create a center of performance, practice, training, research, and cultural exchange. To that end we created our own environment of work, a theatre center in rural massachusetts where we run training programs, train our permanent ensemble, perform our pieces, and share our work with the community. We also provide or help improve living conditions including housing, food, health and education for our members and their families.
Programs: Student training program includes four major objectives: three intensive programs a year for three days, one week and two weeks; three immersions a year for three months each; residencies and workshops in a variety of colleges and touring locations; and local training of youth and other theatre groups. Summer spectacle, an indoor/outdoor traveling performance held at double edge theatre's farm center, and on tour, created by the ensemble and involving the theatre's artistic and artisan community. Development of artistic cycles and performances, created by double edge theatre's permanent ensemble with collaborating artists, present piece currently touring internationally called the grand parade.
