Mission: Dober, inc. (dreaming of better endings rescue) is a nonprofit, all-volunteer organization whose mission is to rescue and re-home displaced dogs, with a focus on doberman pinschers and with a special emphasis on making distinct matches between dogs and adoptive families. We do this by comprehensively evaluating the dogs and carefully screening their potential adopters, and then matching them up in our endeavor to provide each dog with a forever home. We employ our best efforts to restore and protect the image of this very special breed and are committed to helping those in need, regardless of age, appearance, or health, often focusing on seniors and special needs dogs. Additionally, we offer hospice care to those dogs that are not likely candidates for adoption due to medical conditions. We also seek to serve as a resource to the community by guiding those in need to resources and assistance, as well as by educating the public about the doberman pinscher breed and about responsible pet
Programs: Dog rescue and re-homing: the primary purpose of our organization and the bulk of our expenses include those involving the rescue and re-homing process. All dogs are provided with all necessary medical care including being spayed or neutered and micro-chipped prior to adoption.
hospice care: it is difficult to project the expenses associated with the hospice care provided to dogs that we rescue due to the variables that exist (we may take in a dog that is later diagnosed with a condition that makes adoption unlikely or we may take in a dog with a condition assumed to require hospice care and an adopter may end up stepping forward). However, we do devote a large portion of our resources to dogs who are not likely candidates for adoption due to medical conditions.
community outreach/education: we participate in community events to help educate the public and to gain volunteers and supporters, and we spend time corresponding with those wishing to surrender their dogs in an effort to guide them to resources. We also utilize our website as a primary means of communicating valuable information to the community.
