Mission: Our mission is to put christian principles into practice through programs that build healthy spirit, mind and body for all.
Programs: Aquatics - the ymca offers a variety of aquatic programs from 6 months of age to adults. The ymca aquatic programs offer a place to belong, people who care, activities that build skills, and assets. Ymca doors are open to kids and adults with all levels of abilities, and to people of all ages, income, races, and religions. Caring staff teach and encourage everyone to achieve his or her personal best. With a variety of programs for adult, preschool, youth and parent/child classes. The categories include: water fitness, senior and adult lap swim, swim lessons and swim team. The swim team consists of children from the ages of five to twenty one. The team competes mainly against other ymca's. Every program is designed to help participants build specific skills, knowledge, attitudes and behaviors. The aquatic department provides open swim and lap swim to the safety and well-being of participants in aquatic activities in the pool area. Financial assistance is available for those who cannot afford to pay. In 2017, we had 28 participants in swim lessons and provided financial assistance in the amount of $852.
health and well-being for all - the ymca views health holistically. A healthy person has unity of body, mind and spirit. The ymca has identified the growing national obesity rates in this country as a critical social issue that must be addressed and our health and well-being programs are designed to help people develop new skills and grow in spirit, mind and body by setting realistic goals for self improvement and disease prevention through an active lifestyle, proper nutrition, stress management, and health education. Ymca programs promote interaction, teamwork, and development of moral and ethical behavior, social skills and self esteem. We serve all ages, abilities, races, nationalities and religions and provide financial assistance to those who need it. In 2017, the ymca provided financial assistance in the amount of $23,923 for membership financial assistance for 561 individuals.
child care - our child care programs offer high quality child care activities for preschool and school age children from all segments of our community. We offer a variety of state licensed childcare programs, both full and part-time, which provide a safe and nurturing environment where youth can develop self-esteem, good values and an appreciation of charitable service. Woven into the fabric of the ymca's mission is a commitment to strengthening families. Financial assistance is available for those who cannot afford to pay. In 2017, we served 76 participants and provided financial assistance in the amount of $34,167.
the association offers various activities for youth of all ages including monthly middle school fun nights, youth and middle school summer camp, holiday programs, teen leadership and arts and humanities. In 2017, we served 119 participants at our summer day camp.
