These interactive exhibits combine science, technology, arts, humanities, and health to stimulate young and mature minds. Visitors are engaged in experiments and experiences that are fun and encourage asking the questions of "how? - and "why? ". Exhibits are kept current and relevant for the inquiring minds of today.
educaton discovery center education programs exist to help classroom educators, home school educators, scout leaders, or community activities coordinators with access to the highest quality science learning experiences possible. While dcs is a common choice for field trips, we also have a wide variety of science experiences that can be brought to school sites. Because funds for enrichment experiences are limited, we constantly strive to make sure our programs are the highest quality, meet missouri gles and national science standards, and give students access to hands-on science learning experiences that generate excitement for learning science content. Stimulating summer workshop theme events and parent child workshops also bring the fun and excitement of science to the minds and hearts of today's youth.
discovery center's scienceworks on the road program increases students' science knowledge and exposure to hands-on science experiments, assists classroom teachers, helps prepare students for the map test, and creates long-lasting energy and excitement for science. This is your opportunity to receive on-site professional development plus the best in hands-on education for your students. All topics are correlated to the missouri learning standards in science. We come to your classroom for one hour per week for 7 weeks. During the 8th week, we arrange a field trip featuring a"science hunt" at the center, enabling the children to apply all they have learned to everyday life through our innovative exhibits. 3,351 students in the southwest missouri region have benefited from this program. Schools that have participated in the program have had 82% of students scoring an average of 20% higher between pre and post assessments. Discovery center currently offers a variety of distance learning programs via video conferencing, developed to support the missouri learning standards and the national science standards. Discovery center's electronic field trips enable your class to have a hands-on lesson taught by a science specialist. A kit of manipulatives provided to the classroom teacher includes curriculum, pre and post labs, and links to websites.
