I read your article on the Denison Forum Daily. I am a practicing Catholic but find your article incite- full and full of the truths of Christianity. I do have a problem with the Nov 20,2019 article where you give the positions of several protestant denominations and the Catholic Church on homosexuality.
In my experience with Baptist and other evangelical denominations is the Scripture Jeremiah 3:15
"And I will give you shepherds according to My heart, who will feed you with knowledge and understanding"
John 10:27-28
My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me. And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand.
These scriptures gives incite into who will chose the shepherds for the flock. By using the example of sheep and the shepherds, it is plain that Jesus did not intend for the sheep to choose the shepherd, rather a shepherd would be appointed by the church for each congregation. By allowing the sheep to chose its pastor they will always choose the one most closely with related to their moral views.
It is the primary reason that so many young people are confused about Christianity mainly because of the conflicting teachings of each congregation. If the sheep chose the shepherd, then the shepherd will do or teach what he thinks is best for his job security, not the tough teachings of Christ .
Christ is the same now as when he walked the earth and his teachings have not changed, just because our morality has. Teach the truth and the flock will hear the teachings of Christ and follow his voice. He assured us of this truth then and it is the same now.
