The pre authorization process is an absolute lie as my claims were changed after I went through care leaving me with an astronomical bill I cannot afford to pay, and they refuse to adhere to their pre authorization I got prior. The customer service line they hand out has representatives that can’t do anything and to get a hold of a supervisor you have to wait for a call back… and they don’t call back. Delta Dental refuses any responsibility. They are an abhorrent provider and should be avoided at all costs.

Call center employees are not helpful. They do not know the difference between their dental plans. Several times they have just referred us to "use the website", they give no actual help! After hours of trying to find a pediatric dentist for my girls, someone the plan accepts, even though I had a referral, the cost of a cleaning was not covered! No one at the call center understands the concerns of everyday people!

WDS is a dishonest company. They were founded by dentists. The CEO (Jim Dwyer) has brought this company from $483 million in revenue in 2002 to $900 million in revenue in 2011, but lowered all dental provider reimbursement. He states that this is in an effort to keep dental care affordable. To me, this is obvious mismanagement. If Jim Dwyer were committed to oral health, he would not have diverted funds into "research" and instead provided dental offices fair reimbursement for providing dental care to Washington State residents. He is quoted in the Puget Sound Business Journal in 2002 boasting "although WDS is a nonprofit organization, it recently gained authority from the state insurance commissioner to creat for-profit subsidiaries". It seems that Jim Dwyer has been interested in finding a way to take funds from health care providers and line his for many years now.
