Programs: The daniel a payne cdc's percy julian institute continued to provide hands-on, out of school stem activities for middle school students. In fy 2017, the pji conducted six (6) stem events and conducted a robotics program on saturday's during the school year. Students, ages 6-17 were taught basic and intermediate robotics.

In recognition of financial literacy month, the national capital chapter of the society of financial service professionals together with the daniel a. Payne community development corporation presented their second community financial program. Financial professionals addressed key topics such as personal money management, funding retirement or a child's education, mitigating risk with life insurance and ensuring that a family is protected with a will or trust. Nearly 100 people from the community participated in the event.
