Programs: Residential services include providing food, housing, and in-home personal care such as assistance with feeding, bathing, toileting, etc. For 128 adults with developmental disabilities. These services are administered at approximately 18 homes/facilities located throughout sioux falls. *30% of people served are considered verbally capable with the remainder using augmentative devices, communication books or other devices. *10% of people served are considered physically capable of ambulation with the remainder using power or manual wheelchairs or other assistive devices. *15% of people served are considered capable of self-feeding with all others needing staff assistance of utilizing feeding machines such as g-tubes, j-tubes, etc.
segregated day services include vocational training and educational services for 138 day and residential adult clients with developmental disabilities.
nursing, physical therapy, speech, hearing and language, and other medical services for clients.
*vocational training services develop and perform limited production contracts for community businesses. Most include services associated with packaging and assembly for manufacturing facilities. Costs include supplies and client payroll measured on a piecemeal basis for contracting purposes. *dakotabilities provides services to 138 individuals with multiple forms of developmental disabilities through a variety of options. Current programs are located in sioux falls and include residential and vocational training. Each program is organized through an interdisciplinary process which coordinates evaluation, planning and implementation of developmental training and care according to the specific needs of the individual. Programs are currently operating at capacity with a waiting list of people who would desire to receive services from dakotabilities if its capacity allowed. *in april 2016, dakotabilities received accreditation for its special education services as an "approved educational service provider" in south dakota. Reviews and reauthorizations are conducted biannually. *in april 2016, dakotabilities was reviewed by the state of south dakota under its arsd (administrative rules of south dakota) process and received a 2-year accreditation. *in april 2014, dakotabilities received a four-year accreditation from the council on quality and leadership, a national accreditation review team. The accreditation addressed the quality of dakotabilities' services and was adjunct to the arsd review.
