CULTURE WORKS

Programs: Campaign for the arts: this united arts fund effort conducted annually raises funding to provide grants to local arts organizations, while simultaneously increasing awareness of the importance of arts and culture in attracting talent and investment to the dayton region. Culture works provides arts performances and information to more than 40 workplaces in the community to encourage employee engagement, greater participation in the arts, and financial support of the campaign.

power2give: culture works began hosting the nationally franchised on-line cultural marketplace, power2give, in 2014. Power2give provides a crowd-funding mechanism for all nonprofits in the eight-county dayton region to post and promote arts and cultural projects in need of funding. Culture works secures matching funding for projects, provides administrative support, and at the conclusion of these project postings, which last up to 90 days, issues checks to the posting organizations for the amount raised plus matching funds.

cultural planning: culture works completed a three-year cultural planning process in april of 2015. Culture connects 20/20, the plan that resulted from these planning efforts will be utilized as a roadmap for supporting, sustaining, and enhancing the dayton region's cultural assets for the next decade. Oversight for the planning process was provided by the national arts consulting firm wolfbrown, with research and meeting facilitation provided by the university of dayton and wright state university. More than 200 citizens attended meetings and took part in the planning process. The process is chronicled on a dedicated website, cultureconnects2020. Org, which will be used to document the implementation of the plan going forward.
