Programs: To distill the accomplishments of 2012, and where a great majority of cm's effort focused on:the major focus was the preparation for and trip to liberia in june 2012. A team of 10 prepared from jan to june and physically traveled to liberia with a support of 3 more remaining in the united states. 8 of the team were emerging 'next generation' leaders. This was a first of its kind type cm trip to liberia with extensive training required to support a scope of work that focused deeply on serving and developing charity and community leaders, from various communities in a number of skills to help them lead, resource and sustain their charities. One leader actually traveled from ghana to liberia to attend the training when he became aware of its comprehensive content. From jan 2012 to the time of departure, the team had to be trained, equipped and certified in the 5 levels of leadership and more before leaving. This next generation had to learn more before they could help train. Three professionals in these fields helped train the team and also made the trip to liberia. A two week training of 32 leaders included a curriculum of personal leadership (diamond life), team leadership (certified maxwell 5 levels of leadership training), project management, and business planning. Comprehensive manuals, training materials, notes etc. Were created, brought to liberia and provided to all in attendance for all of the curriculum courses. The two week school ended with choosing a liberian community from those in attendance, defining a common need and developing a project plan to manage the completion of the teams goals and objectives. The project selected was to provide clean drinking water to a selected liberian community. The team and its leader were chosen, the plan discussed and goals were agreed upon by the end of the two weeks. A liberia/us accountbility and communication plan was also established to monitor the projects progress. In addition to the training done in liberia, during the few free days, time was taken to serve two orphanages (orphan relief and rescue and faith works), a school (isaac davis), reap (a charity who serve child soldiers who were suffering the impact of being forced to serve as child soldiers) and think (a charity who serve children who have been sexually abused). Sts (service to servants) provided help to 78 different organizations in being able to resource the ability to serve 64 differentcharities in liberia, some multiple times from the various 40 foot containers that were shipped from the us to liberia. Thousands of gift items were delivered in these shipments. Sts also partnered with the liberia travel team mentioned above and coordinated all its logistics while there and helped introduce and get the leaders to the training. The us community foundation made more than 330 gifts to 175+ charities in 2012, restructured its board and implemented a 5 year strategic plan. A key component of the plan is the establishment of a foundation donor advisory committee whose focus is to increase the foundations fund so it can serve even more charities and better meet current and new foundation donors. Cm was asked to sit on this committee and accepted. In addition, cm served various charities as they surfaced during 2012 such as the quinn house (homeless), healing grace (counseling), serenity (troubled young girls-inner city) and a church and its senior pastor located in chile. Cm also targeted specific next generation leaders who were coached and mentored throughout the year.
