I am honored to be apart of this wonderful organization. Every dollar that goes towards the Harari elders brings both them and us joy. I do not have a single regret for helping this cause. I hope that the joy it brings me will spread to others.

HAF is an amazing organization that helps many Harari elders back home. Their efforts are really helpful, giving essential support to the needy Harari elders.

Harari Amana Foundation is a foundation that dedicates its time, money and resources to support the most vulnerable and overlooked sector in our society, the elderly. What makes HAF even more worthy cause to support is that it is focused on supporting disadvantaged Harari elders in Ethiopia, where there is no social safety net to help elders with their day-to-day necessities. Most, if not all, the current disadvantaged Harari elders had their own small business when they were young and able. Now when they are old with mobility and health issues, no one seems to pay attention to their predicament. That’s where HAF comes in, to be the reliable source of comfort and support to the poverty-stricken Harari elders. HAF opened our eyes to see the uncomfortable reality and provided us with the opportunity to make a real impact in the elders’ lives every single day. Thank you HAF and keep up the noble work.

After I realize what they doing for Older people and for those who don’t help themself , They are helping them by renovating there house and helping them on daily expenses , on cold season they distribute blanket to keep them worm and this nonprofit group is doing so much for older people who can not help themselves and I been donating for this group for long time and I trust them in things they do.

The organization provides $1000 in local currency every month to elders with no income in Harar and other cities in Ethiopia.
There is no administrative cost to run the organization as those who are running the organization work as volunteers. Their commitment and dedication put a smile on many faces every month.

HAF (Harari Amana Foundation inc) is one of the most successful nonprofit organization in Ethiopia. It’s run by a dedicated, selfless and disciplined team who have sacrificed their families and time. It’s agile, donor-centric and focused on its mission to eliminate poverty in Harar and in Ethiopia in general.


Not only that, but it was founded by the clever individuals who have entrepreneur mindset and depends solely on generous donors' income around the globe. So far it has served about 140 elders with 1000 EB( Ethiopian BER) and counting. It has helped many poor families with groceries and household items, not to mention distributing money to the needy families during major holidays, putting big smiles on their faces and tranquility on their hearts.


It’s phenomenal that HAF renovated some elders’ houses and furnished them with new furniture. Likewise, it also has provided the seniors with masks and preventive educational services for the killer pandemic. To me, it’s incredible that just one nonprofit organization has tried to cover the whole nine yards in a very short period. For sure, I am privileged to continue to donate to this amazing charity organization.


But wait, HAF has just recently come up with a terrific idea of launching Waqf project to dedicate the revenue to assist more underprivileged elders. Frankly, I am beyond the shadow of the doubt that we can see the light at the end of the tunnel, and hope HAF continue with its success so that we all be on cloud nine soon.

Harari Amana foundation (HAF) is the most successful and inspiring charity organization for poor elderly people who live in Harar and beyond. It’s run by dedicated, selfless organizers who have sacrificed their valuable time and families for the sake of humanity. Their actions have spoken louder than their words. They are focused and determined to eradicate poverty in Ethiopia in general.


It’s absolutely amazing that in 2020 alone that HAF distributed 1000 Ethiopian BER for 140 elders including welcome packages of a mattress, a blanket 2 bedsheets and 2 pillows with cases for each elder who are currently receiving monthly allowances. Also, it distributed 400,000 BER an equivalent of $10,500.00 USD in charity and served 10 pond meat for each family during major holidays for both monthly and non-monthly recipient elders, not to mention $9000.00 for emergency relief to 200 seniors.

Moreover, During the pandemic, it distributed 1000 reusable masks and 200 hand soaps, including safety education about the COVID-19 for seniors. Some elders’ houses were in terrible conditions and HAF had to intervene to repair them. As the result, 24 houses were completely renovated and put smiles on their occupants’ faces.


Last but not least, HAF came up with brilliant ideas to launch the waqf project to purchase rental properties and dedicate the revenue to support disadvantaged Hararis and beyond, I love it, it’s an incredible project. The journey will continue until it hits its mark, putting an end to poverty in our country for once and for all. I am bouncing off the walls to witness that day!!

As a HAF member, I’m truly impressed with the work HAF has done to help disadvantaged Harari elders in Harar and multiple other regions in Ethiopia. It’s amazing to see my monthly donation make an impact in Peoples everyday lives.

HAF is a nonprofit organization designed with the purpose of providing essential care and support for disadvantaged elderly Harari’s in Ethiopia. Their dedication and contributions offer life impacting support through financial assistance. I am extremely proud to be able to support a cause as such.

HAF is a successful NP organization that is much needed to support elderly Hararis without families in Ethiopia. I am impressed with the team work, fundraising, and social media marketing that HAF has executed and am excited to see what else HAF has in store for years to come as they grow.

Harari Amana foundation (HAF) is run by dedicated and selfless Executives and Board Members who are volunteers. Because of that, over 90% of your contribution goes to the cause (helping disadvantaged Harari elders). Majority of HAF recipients are over the age of 75 and amazingly, few of them are over 100 years old.

Most, if not all of the recipients, were successful independent business men/women who had great aspirations like every one of us. But, due to losing their farms/business, poor health, unexpected family tragedies or losing their spouse who was the sole provider, they ended up being alone with no income, no support, no social safety net and no government programs/benefits.

YOUR CONTRIBUTIONS do not just buy items for these desperate elders but ….....

1. IT PROVIDES them with comfort at night so that they can have productive day. Sleeping on a hard floor is not acceptable for the young and healthy, let alone for the old and frail. That is why HAF provides sleeping package (1 Blanket, 1 Mattress, 2 Bedsheets, and 2 Pillows with cases) to every recipient so that they can have comfortable, warm and restful nights.

2. IT TRANSFORMS their living conditions to give them self-worth and dignity. They live in houses that are dark, dirty, leaky roofs, crumbling walls and filled with broken and unusable items. HAF has volunteers and employees on the ground who declutter, clean, repair, paint and transform their houses into cozy, bright, safe and functional living space for elders.

3. IT RESTORES their self-esteem and makes them feel part of their community. HAF gives them holiday/special occasion gifts and supplies to make them feel special and loved. HAF volunteers and employees on the ground take the elders, who are able, not only for walks to get fresh air, but also to attend Friday prayers and refresh and strengthen their spirituality.
It has been a blessing and a privilege for me, to be able share their stories and to be able to contribute toward their wellbeing.

Harari Amana Foundation is the ONLY means of survival for these poverty-stricken Harari elders in Ethiopia and I strongly urge everyone to donate and/or become a member and contribute $30/month, to this trusted charitable organization.

I am continuously impressed and inspired by the high level of dedication, professionalism and accountability demonstrated by the management team at HAF. They are truly trail blazers in the charity giving in this region of Africa, directing small individual contributions to impact so many living in margins of society, those with no direct relatives, and non-existent government programs to fall back on.

It is a blessing to have a trustworthy organization like Harari Amana foundation to serve the needy in particular Harari elders. For those who know Harar and Harari culture, HAF is God sent because there is no social safety net for elders in Harar, unless they have family members who can help them. Sadly most seniors in Harar live under the poverty line even by Ethiopian standards .

It is heartbreaking to see them living alone in a very difficult circumstances, most in need of urgent medical care in addition to basic human needs such as food, clothing and proper shelter.

We, as a community witnessed the gradual but study growth of HAF with significant impact in the lives of our elders who desperately need help.
