Mission: Mission: we provide a voice in court for abused and neglected children and a safe place in the community for conflict-free family interactions. Significant activities: we provide trained volunteers to advocate for the best interests of abused and neglected children in dependency and neglect court cases. We also provide safe supervised visitation services for children and their non-custodial family members, as well as safe custody exchanges.
Programs: 68 volunteers provided advocacy and stability for 198 children involved in dependency and neglect cases. These children range in age from birth to 18 and have been victims of physical, sexual and/or emotional abuse or have been neglected by their family to a point of severe risk. The volunteers through their court appointment are charged with gathering information from teachers, doctors, therapists, relatives and the child in order to make recommendations regarding services and ultimately, the best permanent home for the child.
25 volunteers and interns provided over 2572 supervised visits and exchanges for 232 children and their non-custodial families, ensuring that the children are kept safe from whatever the issues in the family are which have brought them to us. Many of the families are ordered to our services through court actions. There is complete, objective documentation distributed to the court, attorneys and caseworkers in order to monitor the progress of the parents regarding sobriety, parenting, mental health and other issues with may be a factor.
