Mission: CPAST is dedicated to advancing the scientific and technical education of high school students and the public. Our board of directors is composed primarily of scientists and engineers working in academia and government research laboratories. We incorporated in St. Louis, Missouri in September 1996.
Our specific objectives and purposes are:
(1) To publish the ForEST web site (see Operating Programs section for details);
(2) To expand our scope to cover other fields in science and technology, and otherwise redefine our educational and scientific program from time to time.
Possible future activities include but are not limited to:
(a) Conducting outreach programs for public schools and youth groups to stimulate scientific curiosity and reasoning;
(b) Sponsoring online question-and-answer sessions between students and professionals in science, engineering and related fields, to augment formal science instruction and to encourage the pursuit of careers in science and technology.
