Causes: Hot Lines & Crisis Intervention, Mental Health, Suicide Prevention
Mission: Contact of northern illinois was established to provide a 24-hour, 7-day a week helpline. Over 70 volunteer listeners staff all services and the services are provided free of charge. In 2017 contact of northern illinois handled 24,575 calls.
Programs: Helpline - 24% of all of our calls are from people calling our helpline. They are seeking a person to talk to.
reassurance - 75% of our calls are placed to our elderly reassurance clients. These calls are made to provide our elderly clients with someone to talk to and for medication reminders when needed.
information and referral services - 1% of all contact calls are those looking for information or referrals to community service programs in the northwestern illinois area.
