Mission: The constitutional accountability center (cac) is a not-for-profit think tank, public interest law firm and action center based in washington, dc and is dedicated to fulfilling the progressive promise of the constitution's text and history. Launched in june 2008 as the successor to the community rights counsel, cac produces original scholarship, promotes the conviction that the constitution is a progressive document, and uses litigation to move the law in a direction that comports with constitutional text and history.
Programs: Progressive constitution project: cac's progressive constitution project covers much of the core work of constitutional accountability center, including our scholarship on the constitution's text and history, our litigation before the supreme court and lower courts around the country, our work in reviewing the records of federal judicial nominees and our public advocacy about the constitution and its history.
cac's general program: cac's general program includes programmatic work, scholarship, litigation, and public advocacy that falls outside the boundaries of our progressive constitution project.
