Causes: Child Day Care, Children & Youth
Mission: To provide advocacy and resources in the estabishment and support of quality, affordable and accessible child care services for children and families in riverside county through community partnerships.
Programs: Ab 212 funds are used to support a compensation and retention program in riverside county by which child care providers working in state funded before or after school programs or state funded preschool programs receive stipends for remaining in their job for one year and increasing their education and/or professional growth. The goal of this program is to increase quality and continuity of care. During fy 2013-2014 seventy (70) successful participants received $198,500 in stipend incentives with a total of 909. 36 semester college units (449. 38 ece units & 459. 68 ge units). Incentive amounts issued ($163,500) were for college coursework completed and an additional $35,000 ($500 per participant) was allocated to offset increased expenses assiciated with college coursework.
the quality rating improvement system (qris) funds are used to contract with an out of county agency to conduct early childhood environmental rating scale (ecers) assessments for california state preschool program (cspp) classrooms enrolled in the qris project.
department of publlic health funds are utilized by riverside county child care consortium to assist the grantor to provide education and technical assistance to licensed early care and education centers and family child care homes regarding certification for the nutrition and physical activity self assessment for child care (nap sacc) project. Rcccc will be providing training, conferences and community outreach activities along with site visits to centers and homes to further the success of the certification process.
