My kids have all been through the CIC. It's a 30+ year old institution in CT, and a staple alongside the Science Fair. Kids are taught to invention a solution to a problem they have, and then go through prototyping, researching patents, creating marketing, etc. Winners of local invention conventions get to go to the State level at UCONN's Gambel Pavilion where you have almost 1000 kids showing off their inventions. Each year the CIC teaches about 15000 kids in 200 schools to be inventors, which I think is just awesome. Very efficient from a funding point of view too--they do all of this with just a few full time staffers and a boatload of volunteers. Very awesome program. I have been volunteering with them since my first of four kids went through the program.
