Causes: Arts & Culture, Music
Mission: We champion young musicians and the live performance of fine music. We believe music is a vital and important aspect of human culture. We seek to create an environment in which classical musicians can flourish and audiences can find creative stimulation, enjoyment and enrichment. We accomplish this through our programs, which include outreach, performance opportunities, concerts and competitions.
Results: Membership in Connecticut Alliance for Music helps support the dreams and aspirations of young musicians. We were founded in 1972 as Performers of Southern Connecticut by Josephine Barnett, Ruth Steinkraus Cohen, Brenda Lewis Cooper, Joanne DeBergh Dublin, Heida Hermanns, and Harriet Salerno. As the organization expanded, it was renamed Performers of Connecticut, and in 1996 the name was changed to Connecticut Alliance for Music. Connecticut Alliance for Music, Inc. is a 501(c)3 organization.
Programs: Give young artist a chance to improve their skill in summer camp, perform at house concerts and one public concert at a church, plus hold a music competition once a year
