Programs: Creative classroom: the creative classroom program offers residencies, performances, workshops, and professional development sessions with compas teaching artists in schools across minnesota. Compas works with schools' realities to teach creativity in ways that meet classroom objectives while helping develop whole, problem-solving, creative minds. Everyone in the room creates no matter what their abilities, giving every student the opportunity to benefit from our teaching artist's attention and expertise. creative community and youth: compas works in libraries, after school programs, community centers, shelters, summer camps, parks, festivals, and more to bring creative expression to minnesotans wherever they live, work, and play. Compas also partners with community organizations to engage youth to work alongside compas teaching artists and create public art pieces during summer intensives. Youth facing a variety of challenges learn job skills and earn a paycheck while giving back to the community and learning from a professional teaching artist. artful aging and arts in healthcare: compas works with adults 55+ who live independently and in senior living centers. Seniors of all abilities experience the joy and satisfaction that comes from engaging in hands-on, artistic activities. Participants discover new talents, rekindle old interests, develop new friendships and create stunning art. Addtionally we strengthen community and wellness in twin cities' children's hospitals. Creativity stimulates recovery, increases quality of life and connects staff and patients to each other in deeper ways. (fy17 service numbers for creative classroom 6,192)
