I have got to know Community Touch through their director Tyronne Champion. Few men have the kind of passion, vision and integrity that God has given him for this ministry. As in all organizations, the attitude of the people involved reflects the attitude of the leader. The volunteers of CTI are devoted to loving people where they are, meeting their need and making a difference where possible. It has been a privilege and a pleasure to work along Tyronne and his organization.
Community Touch is a non-profit Charitable organization designed to assist people who are down on their luck to be able to rejoin the community as productive citizens. They do that by offering free housing for a specific period of time, food and clothing at either free or reduced prices based upon their ability to pay. Counseling is also provided on financial management, to include budgeting and savings. Tutoring is also available for the children. To participate a person must be employed and have transportation to place of employment. A portion of that person’s salary is deposited into a savings account, to be returned to them when they leave as a deposit on a dwelling. Community touch also runs a thrift store, where people may purchase donated items at reduced prices. These monies help fund Community Touch in their charitable activities. Several times during the year, the thrift store, known as Noah’s Ark has special programs where people may come in and obtain school clothes for free for the children and a Coats for Kids project. What makes Community Touch unique and a very valuable asset to the community is that they not only feed with “fish” they also teach how to fish. Upon completing the program, families can return to the community as productive citizens and add to their community. Pastor and Felicia Champion are very properly named. In my eyes both of them are champions. They are taking Christian principals and putting them into action, and as we all know, actions speak much louder than words Stephen T. White
We have been supporting the CTI from it's birth in various dept. and duties such as building the food pantry, working the panty, Noah's Ark, giving out clothes, food, pickup supplies, donations, ect. It is good to be a part of an orgination that has compassion and love for people to meet there needs. We thank God for CTI, the workers and volunteer's.
My experience with Community Touch, Inc. has been bar none. They have become more than an asset to this community. So many times not only I but, friends and relatives have had need of clothing, furniture, household items and food. I do not know what we would have done without Community Touch, Inc. When you have need and you go there you are not judged by who you are are where you have come from. All they want to know is "what do you need". These people have made it a habit of going over and beyond. Recently the Librian from the Middle School that my boys go to called me for information about Community Touch, Inc. because there was a family in the area that really did not have anything and she said that she knew that I knew about Community Touch, Inc. I called CTI and obtained information to relay back to the Librian and she said that she would keep the information for future reference. I cannot express how much of a blessing CTI has been to my family, friends and myself. This year has been a tremendous hardship for many of us and for those of us that are not used to asking for help it has been a most rewarding experience to know that there really are people that are who they say they are and show the "Good Samaritan" type love in this day and time. I have the utmost gratitude for Community Touch, Inc. May they continue to be prosperous and always maintain the caring, love, and support they have shown this community.
In times past, I have been in Clara's Food Pantry aiding with the distribution of food to needing families in our community. I know how much of an asset Community Touch is to Fauquier County especially now with the way the economy is. In my time spent there, I saw different people from all walks of life, who all shared the same need. Community Touch was there for them, and fulfilled that need. This organization provided them with food, clothing, and shelter. Community Touch also gave them love, faith, and hope for tomorrow.
Community Touch proved to be more than just a non-profit in the local community, when they reached out to help during Katrina, not only did the volunteers come in but the director of CTI drove down with a volunteer to make sure that the resources were going to make a difference in this national disaster. To me it's not just a name it's a true mission.
I have been associated with Community Touch for close to a year. This organization has excelled in their endeavor to help anyone who is in need, be it, housing, food, financial aid, furniture, computers, appliances, etc. Other organizations turn to Community Touch to ask how to follow in their footsteps. They have accomplished a great deal in a very short amount of time. I feel privileged to be a part of this wonderful, positive organization.
Community Touch shows love and compassion for everyone in need. I have the priviledge to volunteer at the food pantry on a weekly basis. I see relief in the faces of individuals and families when they receive food. Community Touch is always looking for new programs and sources of funding to meet the ever growing needs of the community. This organization makes a wonderful difference in the community.
For me and my family, what began as an opportunity for our teenagers to be involved in the community has turned into a family-wide close-knit relationship with a high quality organization meeting the real needs of people in our community. We've developed relationships with people in the Transitional Housing program and watched them get back on their feet. We've been able to help provide food to people in need and build a positive rapport with them. I've never seen an organization like this run with as high a degree of integrity and resourcefulness as Community Touch. I'm thankful for the opportunity to be a part of it.
Over the last 2 1/2 years of working with Community Touch, Inc. with the high school and middle school students at my church, I have been continually impressed by their dedication, commitment to our community, and expanding services to help meet the needs of people in area. Their leadership is thorough, imaginative, and simply excellent in every area they apply themselves. I have worked with them and witnessed them serving the extremely poor and homeless, as well as those getting clean from drug addiction. I've witnessed how they have gotten those who have been helped to help others, and to develop an attitude of service towards others. I've seen how they provide a balance of generosity with discipline in those they help. I am thoroughly impressed with Community Touch, Inc. and I can't imagine what our community would be like without them. They are instrumental in helping and serving the most marginalized in our community. But they never leave people where they find them, but instead help them to take steps to get housing, jobs, and the financial help they need to become self-sustainable. I can't say enough good things about this life-changing organization.
Community Touch has always been helpful with assisting my organization in helping people in need. Whenever I call with a family in need of transitional housing they have always helped. We work together in getting a large number of people help with furniture, clothes and all kinds of material needs the families need. We are now working with them to obtain payments for people rent and utility bills.
Community Touch is one of the most gifted organzations serving our community. Its staff and volunteers are visonary, energetic and don't hide their gifts under a bushel. They are out in the community daily serving the needs of chidren and adults who are most needy and helping them get back on their feet.
