Mission: Cisnc's mission is to surround students with a community of support, empowering them to stay in school and achieve in life. Cisnc is currently serving 24 local affiliates and 8 embedded affiliates. Cisnc assures their sustainability through training and technical assistance, while also serving the entire state in its work to improve public education altogether. This includes: building statewide partnerships; advancing community relations and media support for local affiliate success; serving the state as a dropout information and networking center; collaborating with partners statewide for children who are at-risk of dropping out of school; and providing data collection and program evaluation for the entire cis network in north carolina.
Programs: Training and technical assistance: program is to provide training and technical assistance to local and embedded affiliates and communities in process of establishing direct services. This includes all travel costs, meals, supplies, and related costs for the training or technical assistance. The training or technical assistance may take place at our office or anywhere across the state.
direct support: money given directly to local affiliates or on their behalf through invoice for services or grants.
llc program sites: cisnc provides direct services to students in low performing schools located primarily inside of extreme rural communities where resources are limited. Direct services include staff working directly with more than 2200 students to ensure school attendance, improve behaviors that provide a barrier to achievement, enhance learning through literacy support, tutoring and check and connect and engage more families in school to enhance school success for at risk students. The goal of the direct services model is to ensure that at risk students, regardless of their zip code, receive the interventions and support necessary to succeed in school and life.
cisnc provides jobs for north carolina's graduates to achieve high outcomes in graduation and employment rates, resulting in increased college access and completion in seven nc counties as well as implementing a blended model of both the cisnc and avid models in six middle schools in the nash-rocky mount public schools through a department of commerce grant. The reentry to resilience program is a youth development transition support pilot program, which is an enhanced reentry service for juvenile justice-involved youth returning to their home communities from confinement in youth development centers and short-term residential facilities.
